First Semester Principal's Honor Roll
What does it take to achieve straight A's? It takes a commitment to learning, a commitment to going above and beyond, and a commitment to persevering when the going get tough. It takes hitting the ground running the very first day of school and never giving up. It takes dealing with the complexity of Common Core and new standards and having an "I can do this" attitude. It takes giving 100% every day! Congratulations to the following Principal's Honor Roll students:

First Semester Honor Roll
What does it take to achieve Honor Roll status in Fifth Grade? It takes a commitment to being the very best student you can be each and every day. It translates to doing your homework when you would prefer to play; reading when you might prefer to play video games; and striving to do just a little bit more than is required. Congratulations to our outstanding students!

Korean Teacher Exchange
Welcome to our Korean teacher, Ms. Kim, who is visiting us from Busan, South Korea. It is an honor to have her with us and to be able to share our American instructional techniques that enhance learning for all. It is also wonderful to have Ms. Kim be able to share her teaching expertise with us, as well as to bring some world culture to our classroom. Ms. Kim will stay with us until November 16th, and then will switch with my team teacher at Temecula Middle School.
We also had the pleasure to teach with Ms. Baek for the months of November and December. What a joy it was for all of us! We miss you tremendously

Student Council Representatives
Wow! We got to witness democracy in action right in our own classroom. Twenty students ran for Student Council and each one delivered a wonderful speech. I was so proud of not only their effort, but their willingness to take a risk in 5th grade. Congratulations to our newest members of Paloma's Student Council: Morgan LeRossignol and Savannah Larrimore. Well done, girls! And well done to all 20 students who ran!
Distinguished School
Paloma Elementary is proud to be a 2012 California Distinguished School! Proud to be a Paloma Panther!
An Honor, Indeed!
Our third graders got to meet personally with the Honorable Mr. Chuck Washington, Mayor of Temecula. He gave them a tour of the city chambers, City Hall, and even his office. I am not sure who enjoyed the day more, the kids or Mr. Washington! :)
Temecula Valley History Contest
Every year our third graders enter the Temecula Valley History Contest and do their own research on any time period or topic of interest from the Luiseno Indian period to present-day Temecula. The results, as always!, are stunning!
The children also got to put their knowledge to use as we visited the Old Town History Museum, went back in time to Temecula's beginnings, and even got to meet the mayor of Temecula, Mr. Chuck Washington. Being a third grader is the best! :)
